Hang Tien Exploration 4 Days 3 Nights is an expedition tour of the Tu Lan cave system. Thus, this tour is second only to the Tu Lan Exploration tour in terms of difficulty and grandeur. By booking the Hang Tien Cave Exploration Tour, you will explore the largest dry cave and two other caves in the Tu Lan cave system.
Hang Tien Cave is the largest dry cave in the Tu Lan cave system, Cao Quang commune, Tuyen Hoa district, Quang Binh province. It is about 70km west of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. Fairy Cave has long been famous for its pristine beauty and massive stalactite and stalagmite formations with diverse unique shapes.
This Hang Tien expedition tour is a shortened version of the Tu Lan Expedition tour, but the route is still quite challenging for visitors. Hence, this is an adventure tour where visitors can experience a part of Tu Lan and experience the Hang Tien area to the fullest.

HANG TIEN CAVE EXPLORATION TOUR
Tour Highlights:
Explore many unique caves: You can explore exciting caves such as Secret Cave, Hung Ton Cave, Tien Cave 1 and Tien Cave 2. The highlight of the tour is the Tien cave system – the last 2 caves at the end of the Tu Lan system. The structure of the cave’s dome inside is really unique and rare. Notably, the cave ceiling forms swirls like the Galaxy. The stalactite areas form large terraced fields inside the cave and have many other amazing things.
Experience a “flying fox” across underground streams: This is a safety device to cross streams when water is high (you can walk across the stream under normal circumstances). The experience of ziplining across the stream inside the cave becomes an awe-inspiring experience for most visitors.
Camp in the most beautiful scenery areas: You will have 2 nights camping at Hung Dung and Hang Tien campsites. These are the campsites that tourists rate as the most beautiful and poetic they have ever visited.
Swimming in the infinity pool in nature: The underground river flows from Tu Lan through exposed valleys right next to the Hang Tien camping area. A circular, clear, and jade natural lake where visitors can swim and see the mountains in the distance. Therefore, many tourists call this an “infinity” swimming pool. Note: On days of heavy rain, the water will not be as clear as on normal days.
Experience the local culture: After trekking out of the jungle, you will have dinner with a local family. You can learn about their daily activities while enjoying dinner with them. Plus, you also have the opportunity to cycle to explore the rustic countryside beauty of Tan Hoa village.
Unique stay after the Tien cave exploration: After the trip, you will stay overnight at Tu Lan Lodge in Tan Hoa. These are accommodation areas built on hillsides to adapt to the area’s annual flood environment.
HANG TIEN EXPLORATION 4 DAYS 3 NIGHTS ITINERARY
Day 1: Phong Nha – Hung Ton – Hung Dung Campsite
7:00 – 7:30 am: The car and local English guide will pick you up at your hotel in Phong Nha town and take you to the headquarters. Here, you will listen to safety instructions, and introduce the tour schedule. Plus, sign the Waiver Form, and receive the necessary safety equipment.
Then, we will walk through corn and peanut fields to Rao Nan River. Crossing the river, your group will climb a short slope to reach the Secret Cave, one of the most gorgeous caves in the Tu Lan Cave system. Next, crossing the narrow passage will lead you to the cave’s exit. From here, you will gradually descend into the next valley.
After the jungle trek, we will reach the entrance of Hung Ton Cave, where you will enjoy a delicious lunch on the first day of the Hang Tien Cave exploration tour.
Then, going deeper into the cave, the group will go down the 15m high ladder with safety harnesses and swim through the cave to reach the To Mo valley. Hence, you will have a short time to enjoy swimming before trekking to Hung Dung campsite.
Day 2: Hung Nhai – Hang Tien Campsite
The second day of the Hang Tien exploration tour is the most difficult. You must trek 8 km in the jungle, roughly 350m of ascent, and river crossings.
From the campsite, the group will climb uphill and through the forest to Hung Nhai valley – a beautiful area with relatively flat terrain. Next, you’ll enjoy lunch next to a beautiful waterfall before trekking down the final hill you must tackle for the day.
Then, you continue with river crossings to reach the campsite next to the beautiful natural lake with a jade green color. You can freely bathe, swim, and take photos before sunset. Let’s relax at this rare wonder of nature after the past two days of strenuous exploration.
Day 3: Hang Tien 1 & 2 – Tu Lan Lodge
In the morning, we start climbing the rocks towards the entrance of Hang Tien 1 with views of the stunning valley of Quang Binh.
Right at the entrance of the cave are stalactites stacked like terraced fields, covered with green vegetation, soaring domes, and unique stripes.
At the end of Hang Tien 1, you will be equipped with a safety belt to climb the 10m high ladder. After that, move a short distance further, and you will reach the cave exit, leading to a cool green forest.
After about 30 minutes through the forest, we arrived at the entrance of Hang Tien 2. This small entrance with spiral stone patterns leads you into a giant passage containing beautiful stalactites.
Follow the small path to explore Hang Tien 2. After exploring Hang Tien Cave 2, we will go back to the cave entrance to start a mountain climb of 200m. We will pass two rocky mountains to return to the main road and will have lunch along the way.
Upon arrival, our Phong Nha private car driver will take you back to the headquarters. After reaching Tu Lan Lodge, you check into your room to shower and relax. From your room, you can enjoy the beautiful views of Tan Hoa Village, with majestic limestone mountains and rice fields full of cows and buffalo.
Around 6:00 pm: We will enjoy dinner at a porter family and learn more about the locals’ daily lives. After that, you get back to Tu Lan Lodge to rest.
Day 4: Tan Hoa Village – Back To Phong Nha
In the early morning, you can enjoy the sunrise moment over the beautiful green fields or cycle to explore the Tan Hoa village. Then, you can enjoy breakfast prepared by the chef at Tu Lan Lodge.
OPTIONAL: For those who would like to have a new adventure, you can book an ATV tour (All Terrain Vehicle) directly at Tu Lan Lodge with 2 options. Explore Tan Hoa fields in 30 minutes or explore King Kong’s House tour for 2 hours. Therefore, you can drive the ATV up on slopes, fording streams, and crossing green fields. Otherwise, you can pass through the artificial cave, the home of King Kong.
Check-out time is 12:00 noon. Our Phong Nha private car driver will pick you up from Tan Hoa back to Phong Nha after you finish the Hang Tien Exploration Tour. Phong Nha Cave Tours Travel wishes you an unforgettable experience in Quang Binh.
