During this Tu Lan family camping tour, you will explore two beautiful caves (Rat Cave and Little Rat Cave) with diverse stalactites and stalagmites. Thus, this is also a chance for adventurous families to learn about and explore million-year-old caves.

Also, your family will swim in the clear and cool river, which wells up out of the ground and flows across the valley. Besides, enjoy the pristine nature of the valley and play some games with family members as part of your adventure.

Furthermore, your family will enjoy a picnic meal in the middle of the jungle with delicious dishes, especially the famous spring roll barbecue cooked by our local chefs.

Unique jungle camping experience: The riverside campsite will be a fantastic experience as your family falls asleep to the murmuring of the stream and the sounds of the jungle.

Tu Lan Cave Adventure Tour Detailed Itinerary

Note: On days of heavy rain, the Family camping tour schedule to explore Tu Lan will be adjusted to suit weather conditions. Additionally, the trekking path can be quite muddy and slippery when it rains.

Day 1: Tan Hoa – Little Rat Cave, Riverside Camp

From 7:30 to 08:00 am on the departure day, our Phong Nha private car driver will pick you up at your Phong Nha homestay or hotel. After that, he will transfer your family to the office in Tan Hoa Village, 70 km from Phong Nha. 

At the office, the local tour guide will give your family a safety briefing about the regulations and guidelines on trekking tours for children as well as the tour’s itinerary. After that, you will sign the Release Form, pack your bags, and receive safety equipment for the Tu Lan Cave Family adventure tour for 2 days.

The Tu Lan family camping tour will start with a walk across green fields for around 2.5km to get to the Rao Nan River bank. After crossing the river, we will trek up the “Cow Hill” about 60 metres high, and trek down to the Laken Valley. 

Afterward, we will don lights and helmets and climb a short ladder with safety equipment assisted by the safety team to explore the enigmatic world inside Little Rat Cave. Moreover, we also enjoy lunch inside the cave. 

After lunch, we will continue through Little Rat Cave to the exit into the wide valley, assisted by the safety team. We will trek down for a swim in the river, and join in some entertaining games and competitions held by the tour guide.

Then, we head to the campsite on the river bank to enjoy the delicious dinner that had already been prepared by the local chefs. After dinner, it is a peaceful night for your family members to rest surrounded by nature after a fabulous adventure day.

Day 2: Riverside Camp – Rat Cave- Tan Hoa- Phong Nha

On the second day’s morning, we will have breakfast together and continue the journey by trekking in Laken Valley to reach the Rat Cave. Upon reaching the Rat cave, we will explore nearly 300 m of it, a cave with a beautiful view from the entrance. As you explore further, your family will see a myriad of magnificent stalactites, and the safety team will be with your family at all times.

After exploring the Rat cave, we trek down to cross the Rao Nan River and back to the Tan Hoa headquarters. Take a shower and have lunch at a local restaurant.
