Hang Tien Cave Endeavor Tour is a challenging adventure tour to break your limit, where you will explore the two largest dry caves in the Tu Lan Cave System, Hang Tien 1 & Hang Tien 2. They are renowned for giant stalactites and large cave domes. The journey to Conquer Tien Cave also includes one night of camping by a poetic river.

Hang Tien Cave is located in Cao Quang Commune, Tuyen Hoa District, Quang Binh Province, Vietnam. It is about 70 km from Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park. The Fairy Cave is well-known for its natural beauty with unique formations like terraces, a vortex dome like the Milky Way, etc.

Tour Highlights

Explore caves: Fun Cave, Tien 1 and Tien 2 Caves – the final caves of the Tu Lan Cave System. The structure of the cave’s dome inside is truly unique and rare, and the cave ceiling forms swirls like the Milky Way in outer space. The stalactite areas form large terraced fields inside the cave with many other unique things.

Experience the “flying fox” inside Hang Tien Cave 1: a safety system used to cross the stream in case of high water levels (normally walkable to cross). It is an impressive experience when visitors join the Hang Tien Endeavor Tour.

Tien Cave Campsite is one of the dreamiest campsites beside the river with stunning views. Enjoy the “natural infinity swimming pool” right next to the campsite. This is a lake beneath a small limestone cliff, formed naturally with an “infinity view,” as many travelers described.

Swim in the natural infinity pool: The underground river originates in Tu Lan and creates a natural infinity pool at the Hang Tien camping area. This natural lake is extremely captivating, with emerald water and mountain views surrounding it.

• Note: On heavy rainy days, the water will not be as clear and emerald as on regular days.

Local cultural experience: You will have dinner at one of the local homes after leaving the Hang Tien cave. You can learn about their daily life whilst dining with their family. You can also explore the lovely and tranquil Tan Hoa village by bicycle.

Unique stay after the tour: You will stay one night at a Rural Homestay in Tan Hoa. The Rural Homestay is a weather-adaptive lodging model based on the construction of 10 flood-resistant floating houses for Tan Hoa villagers. These homestays offer peaceful and rustic views of the lives of Tan Hoa villagers.

HANG TIEN CAVE ENDEAVOR DETAILED ITINERARY

Note: We can change the itinerary due to weather conditions. Plus, the jungle trail during the exploration journey may be muddy and slippery when it rains.

Day 1: Phong Nha – Tan Hoa Commune – Fun Cave – Tien Cave Campsite

7:30 – 8:00 am: Our tour guide and Phong Nha private car will pick you up at your accommodation in Phong Nha town to transfer to Tan Hoa Commune for the safety briefing and packing. After signing the Release form, you will receive the necessary safety equipment and start the Hang Tien Exploration 3 days 2 nights tour.

The Hang Tien Cave Endeavor tour will begin with trekking along the trail to the top of the hill and down into the forests. Pass some rocky terrain, and continue gradually moving down the mountain to enter a small valley.

We continued going up a slope from the valley to visit Hang Fun in the journey to conquer the Fairy Cave. It is a quite unique dry cave, also known as the “warm-up” cave. You will stop at the other end of the cave to enjoy a picnic lunch prepared by our porters.

After Fun Cave, you will continue to Tien Cave campsite, where you can rest, enjoy the scenery, and prepare to swim at the “natural infinity pool” with jade green water. You will swim in cool water surrounded by stunning views before returning to the idyllic campsite for a hot cup of coffee or tea before sunset.

A delicious dinner will soon be served by the wonderful Porter chefs to recharge the energy. You can linger after dinner or return to your tent for a comfortable night.

Day 2: Explore Hang Tien Cave 1 & 2 – Tan Hoa

After breakfast at the camp, we will trek through the jungle and over a very rocky path to reach Hang Tien 1. You will be amazed by the vast entrance with a high dome and tall calcite formations covered with plants and mosses. You will be overwhelmed by the circular ceiling dome inside. 

At the end of Hang Tien Cave, you will be equipped with safety harnesses to climb up a 10m high ladder, leading to the cave exit. After about 30 minutes of trekking through the forest from Hang Tien Cave 1, you reach Hang Tien Cave 2. Pass through a small entrance and spiral down to a huge passage, containing a floor of impressive terraces, cave pearls, and many magnificent stalactites and stalagmites.

After finishing Hang Tien 2, you will return to the cave entrance for lunch. Then, you will conquer a 300-meter-high rocky mountain before dropping down to the pick-up point. Our driver will transfer you back to the headquarters and check in to Rural Homestay in Tan Hoa to shower and relax.

Around 6:00 pm: We will walk to the porter’s house for dinner and interact with the villagers. You will not only have the chance to enjoy some delicious local dishes but also learn more about their daily life. After dinner, we will go back to Rural Homestay for a restful night.

Day 3: Explore Tan Hoa Village & Experience Atv Tour – Phong Nha

Early in the morning, after waking up from the homestay, before your eyes is the peaceful Tan Hoa village. You can cycle to explore Tan Hoa village and enjoy the sunrise in the rice fields or vast green corn fields. Plus, you can also have breakfast at the Tu Lan Lodge.

9:00 am: Adventure visitors can also do the ATV Quad bike off-road tour to explore Lim forest and Kong’s home for 2 hours. This is an extremely impressive adventure sport driving activity with climbing up slopes, wading streams, crossing beautiful Lim forests, especially running through the Kong tunnel.

Travel Guides

Physical fitness requirements for Hang Tien endeavor tour:

1. Regarding experience: 

Must have trekking experience within the last 1 year, preferably one overnight tour or 2-3 day trekking tours with tour characteristics as follows:

The trekking tour has a route through forest/mountain/rock/steep terrain at least 8km per day (equivalent to 5 miles a day), with an altitude difference of 300m.

2. Regarding physical exercise: 

Play one of the strong sports such as soccer, cycling, skiing, etc. Or exercise regularly with outdoor activities such as walking/jogging (3-4 times/week, each time 4-5km), with enough physical strength to be able to:

– Run 5km continuously within 50 minutes or walk within 75 minutes.

– Climb five floors continuously without difficulty breathing or dizziness.
