The Wild Tu Lan Cave Explorer Tour has a shorter journey than the Tu Lan Expedition Tour. The trekking is less difficult, and the distance is shorter. Therefore, this tour is suitable for travelers with less time but still would like to experience Tu Lan nature as much as possible.

What To Expect From Wild Tu Lan Cave Tour?

Joining this wild Tu Lan cave tour, you will be able to enjoy unique activities as follows:

Underground river swimming: The valleys are connected by a system of underground caves. Thus, you can experience the magical feeling of swimming inside the cave with the clear and cool water. This is one of the most exciting experiences of Tu Lan cave tours. However, you can sit on the raft if you don’t want to swim.

Explore various magnificent caves: This is an adventure tour in Vietnam where you will explore Rat Cave, Ken Cave, Tu Lan Cave, Kim Cave, Hung Ton Cave, and particularly Song Cave. Hang Sơng Cave is a dry cave near the top of the mountain packed with numerous unique stalactites and stalagmites.

Unique accommodation after the tour: You will spend one night at Tu Lan Lodge right in Tan Hoa. This accommodation was built to adapt to the area’s annual flooding situation. All rooms are built on the side of the hill or with floating houses designed. Thus, when the flood comes, the house will float up.

Important Notes: 

  • The itinerary can be customized following the weather conditions.
  • Shampoo or conditioner are not allowed to be used in the rivers or pools to protect water resources. Hence, environmentally friendly biological shampoo is required.

Day 1: Phong Nha – Tan Hoa – Rat Cave – Tu Lan Campsite

From 7:30 – 8:00 a.m., the car and tour guide will pick you up at your hotel in Phong Nha and transfer you to the Tan Hoa office. Here, you will listen to the safety briefing and the itinerary, sign the Release Form, as receive safety equipment.

Then, we will start the tour with a 2.5km flat walk through peanuts and corn fields. After crossing the Rao Nan River and reaching the Rat Cave entrance, we will have a short break and lunch inside the Rat Cave. After lunch, we will continue further into the cave to admire magnificent stalactites. Then, Climb up through the exit of Rat Cave to continue the journey.

We will take 30 minutes to cross the La Ken Valley and conquer the most difficult challenge of the first day – Lom Com Mountain, which is quite steep and rocky. After crossing the mountains, we trek down to the Tu Lan Valley, with the sound of the waterfall cascading from the cave entrance.

Upon reaching the Tu Lan Valley, we will camp for the first night and swim in the emerald water pool next to the campsite. Settle into your tent and enjoy a delectable dinner cooked by the local chef.

Day 2: Ken Cave -Tu Lan Cave – Kim Cave – To Mo Valley

On the second day of wild Tu Lan cave adventures, we will explore three beautiful caves of the Tu Lan Cave System: Ken Cave, Tu Lan Cave and Kim Cave. After enjoying breakfast, we will swim into Ken Cave and explore it, which is one of the most stunning caves in the Tu Lan Cave System.

Then, we will return to camp for lunch. After lunch, we swim in Tu Lan Cave to explore it – a beautiful river cave giving its name to the whole cave system and it is the main cave.

We will climb up from the river into the dry passage to reach the valley. After crossing the valley, we will reach the Kim Cave entrance, where you will swim and cross beautiful waterfalls to reach To Mo Valley. This captivating valley is the second campsite of this wild Tu Lan cave tour.

After setting up camp, we will have a delicious dinner and sleep to be ready for the third day.

Day 3: Sơng Cave – Hung Ton Cave

We start the third day by conquering a steep hill to reach the entrance of Song Cave. It is a cave with the most unique and rare cave coral calcite formations. After admiring the beauty of Song Cave, we trek downhill back to the campsite and have lunch. Then, crossing To Mo Valley and entering Hung Ton Cave beside the waterfall.

We will swim through the cave to reach the dry passage and climb a 15m ladder with a safety rope to reach the final cave exit. Afterward, we trek across Hung Ton Valley and the ‘baby’ hill to reach the Rao Nan River. Next, we will return to the Tan Hoa headquarters by trekking through the farm fields.

After getting back to the headquarters, we will check in at Tu Lan Lodge to shower and relax.

6:00 a.m., we will walk to a porter’s house for dinner and interact with the locals. After dinner, we will come back to Tu Lan Lodge to rest.

Day 4: Leaving Tan Hoa

In the early morning, you can enjoy the sunrise moments over the beautiful Tan Hoa green fields. Otherwise, you can cycle to explore the Tan Hoa Village. Then, enjoy breakfast prepared by the chef at Tu Lan Lodge.

OPTIONAL: If you still would like to experience another adventure, then you can book an ATV tour (All Terrain Vehicle) at Tu Lan Lodge. There are 2 options: Exploring Tan Hoa fields by ATV in 30 minutes and exploring the House of King Kong tour by ATV for 2 hours.

Take part in an ATV tour, you can ride the ATV upon slopes, fording streams, and crossing green fields. Especially, passing through the artificial cave, the home of King Kong.
